Creating metal cutting paths with TracTrix

Are you faced with the problem where your customers come to you with sketches on paper or 2D scans and want you to deliver a machined part? Or have they come to you with an actual sample for which you must machine a duplicate yesterday?

Many machine shops, because they normally receive clean CAD files, give up immediately and leave it to their customers to figure out how to deliver a useable CAD file for use on N/C machines. Is this a cause of ‘opportunities lost’ because you thought that it was too difficult or cumbersome to achieve? Did you lose a potential customer or machining job because you didn’t have a solution?

If your potential customers can deliver scans of paper drawings or of actual parts, TracTrix can convert them to useable CAD files for your 2D – 2.5D  N/C program. If sketches or drawings on paper are delivered they can be scanned and TracTrix can convert the scan to CAD.

If an actual sample is delivered for you to replicate or make mating parts for, it is a simple task to manually trace around the edge of the part to be duplicated, scan the tracing and TracTrix will create a CAD file that can be edited to perfection for your N/C program. The CAD file can also be used in whatever nesting program your N/C software may have.

TracTrix can help you to capture opportunities or help create them by employing this new tool.
