Base closings by the Department of Defense do not always
mean that the functions of the closed bases are eliminated.
They are usually moved to other DoD locations. Construction and facilities planners have to fit the equipment and as much of the previously allocated floor space as possible into the available area of the new facility. The planners and engineers only had paper drawings and line drawings from equipment suppliers. CAD files are were not available. |
This task was simplified considerably by
scanning the floor plans of the new facility and drawings of
the equipment to be moved and automatically vectorizing them
in TracTrix. The resultant CAD files were edited and
combined in the construction CAD for final fitting and
layout. |
