TracTrix in Archaeology
There are many caves and other archaeological sites with stone paintings and carvings. Photographs capture the essence of the art but cannot be compared mathematically.

The problem is how to capture stone age images from a cave wall for comparison and subsequent plotting to paper.

The solution is to have paper tracings / rubbings of the images made. Scans of these were imported into TracTrix. The vectors created by TracTrix are then exported to a CAD package for editing, comparison and plotting.
